Here’s what our clients have to say about NYC custom cabinetmaker Bob Mason:
Bob and the team at Mason Woodworks are a dream to work with. They work quickly and don’t take shortcuts. They communicate extremely well and never leave a single detail to chance, They offer very creative solutions to design dilemmas, no doubt drawn from their lengthy experience in the field. Most of all they’re genuinely nice, easy-going people who produce gorgeous, high-end finished products. We highly recommend them and hope to work with them whenever we get the chance.

I’m an interior designer and a client recently presented me with a design issue: a custom built glass and steel door needed a screen that could be removable during Winter months. The specific design of the door and its location in the house required a very specific resolution. A number of people had looked at this issue and were quite certain the only solution was to install a brand new door that came with a screen. I worked something out and gave Bob Mason a call to run it by him; having never designed such a detail I wanted a second opinion. He was able to confirm my idea could be done, research the details, soothe the client, and deliver/install a beautiful framed screen on schedule. When in place it was unobtrusive and looked like it was part of the room’s architecture. It was a lovely and successful collaboration; Bob brings so much more than beautiful cabinetry to a project, he develops ideas and takes the overall scope into consideration.

I have worked with Bob on a number of successful projects ranging from large custom kitchens, to simple efficient kitchens, to custom furniture. Each project with him has been delivered on time and on budget and have benefitted from his helpful and creative input. Bob is able to work well off of architectural drawings as well as directly with a homeowner. I refer him for many millwork projects and include him on my own projects whenever I can. Its a pleasure to work with him.

Bob Mason designed a kitchen for a brownstone involving a complete gut renovation. He custom built and installed maple kitchen cabinets with top of the line hardware. Mr. Mason did exactly what he said he would do although the end result was even more solid and beautiful than we had imagined. Some cabinets had to fit along an existing brick wall and he took the care to scribe long pieces of solid maple to exactly follow the line of the brick. Bob is a true artist and craftsman with considerable skill and a great sense for design. Considering the quality of the work we felt that his pricing was very reasonable. We will happily hire him for future design and wood working jobs.

When Bob is involved in the project, you can be assured that all details will be thoroughly thought through and any potential problems will most likely be identified and solved before the mill work is built. His construction and finishing are of the highest quality. His extensive experience, and attention to details enable him to give reasonable schedules and prices that are always met without issue. Mason Woodworks finishes the job strongly, attending to each and every little detail up until the end. He and his crew are easy to talk to, work with and fun to be around. There are so many elements to renovations in New York City, with Mason Woodworks involved you know that mill work will be done beautifully, on time, and for the agreed upon price.

I am a designer that had a vision for a small in-between space in our apartment – we wanted to make the most of it and turn it into an office, a guest bedroom and bike storage, all while looking seamless. Based on some renderings I made, Bob was able to transform it into a reality! He was able to quickly see the vision and had some great suggestions on drawer hardware, wood finishes, ways to make the shelving structurally sound enough to hold our heavy design books(!), and he even built the Murphy bed into the cabinetry so it looks more seamless than a much more expensive store-bought one. He and his crew were a pleasure to work with, and the result is finished to a high-quality – we are thrilled.
